Communication Manager

Copenhagen, Denmark | Volunteer position | Duration: October 2021 - May 2022

The Marketing & Communication function is responsible for developing, maintaining and promoting strong branding for oikos Copenhagen and its projects. The functions’ goals are to return value to our stakeholders, expanding the oikos Copenhagen network, raising awareness towards sustainable businesses, and successful promotion of oikos events, initiatives and collaborations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

  • Co-develop branding/marketing plan for oikos Copenhagen with the Head of Communication.

  • Co-create a brand for your project consistent with the oikos Copenhagen brand.

  • Create concepts and develop, manage and evaluate digital and physical branding/marketing campaigns and materials for your project.

  • Contribute to general brand awareness of oikos Copenhagen and consider the market position of the organisation and its projects.

  • Content creation: e.g. copywriting, shooting/recording and editing photos, videos and audio files.

  • Design and edit creatives.

  • Update website with current information and design tweaks.

  • Keep an overview of digital and physical marketing material and help structure and sort the current media databases.

  • Track and analyse engagement and activity on our communication channels.

  • Explore opportunities for collaborations with external stakeholders.

  • Aid the development of an annual report.

  • Be the link between the projects and the communication function. As communication members you should be the best-informed team member of your project team.

  • Report to the Head of Communication and project activities to the communication members.

  • Take part in weekly meetings with the communication team or project team.

BENEFICIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND TOOLS

In oikos, we learn as we go, so we don‘t expect you to be experienced in all of the skills listed. You should have experience in some of them and willing to familiarise yourself with others.

  • Copywriting (storytelling, writing, editing, publishing)

  • Graphic design (Canva, Adobe)

  • Search Engine Marketing (webdesign, basic coding, SEO, link buildings, UX design)

  • Media production (photography, video and audio, shooting, editing)

  • Analytics (Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics)

Therefore, we are looking for sociable and driven students who are able to put in 3-5 hours a week into oikos (more or less depending on activties). OPEN POSITIONS WITHIN communication

  • Join the communication team: The partnership team is responsible for oikos Copenhagen’s network, partnerships and fundraising as described above.

  • Join the Green Week Team or the Social Pioneers | oikos Career Team: Green Week, Social Pioneers and oikos Career are event-based projects and are dependent on successful promotion. As Communication Manager for Green Week, you will support the Project Manager in coordinating the team’s efforts of preparing promotional material and social media communication. You will have close contact with the communication team for sparring, information sharing, and coordinating communication activities. In our project teams, we pull in the same direction and support each other. Hence, as a Communication Manager in a project team, we expect you to be proactive and take on necessary tasks, even if they should fall outside of the scope of communication (e.g. contacting organisations). NB: For the first time, we will merge our Social Pioneers and oikos Career Projects to open opportunities across the whole field of careers within sustainability.
