about the workshop
Alongside the Copenhagen UN Youth Association and oikos Copenhagen, we at the Global River Center invite you to a half-day workshop that explores the different ways Circular Economy principles can be implemented at our soon-to-be-built River Centers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The workshop aims to bring together a multidisciplinary group to co-create solutions that can be brought to life in the design of our 200 River Centers.
We are especially interested in people from the following disciplines: architecture, engineering, economics, business development, design, energy, education, energy, art and culture
The workshop will be led by Elizabeth Boye (CEO of Global River Center), Emma Noerbaek and Rebekka Kvalsund (Circular Economy experts) with input from Morten Schmidt (GRCs Award Winning Architect)
*** Agenda TBA ***
who can participate?
Students, professionals, professors and anyone in between. We believe creativity and great ideas flow well when people from different backgrounds come together, so no matter what academic, cultural or geographic background you may have, we welcome your ideas. Maybe you and your start-up have a specific circular solution? Or maybe you are just interested in learning more about circularity? Either way, you are encouraged to sign up. Given the importance of amplifying the voice and knowledge of you on the continent, we especially encourage the ones of you based in Sub-Saharan Africa to join us!
In order to ensure we have a successful collaborative environment and provide an engaging experience, we are limiting the number of participants to 20.
If you would like to join please fill out the registration form linked below:

about Global River Center
We at the Global River Center (GRC) aim to enhance the quality of life of youth and create an alternative to city migration by building 200 River Centers in sub-Saharan, non-urban Africa.
A River Center is a multipurpose community building that facilitates and enables in-demand services such as skills training, health, entertainment, as well as empowering the community by strengthening their communication and trading capabilities.
It is crucial to us that the infrastructure design of each River Center is based on the principles of Circular Economy. Although we have already embraced circularity into our state-of-the-art architecture (i.a. flexible housing, modular steel design and renewable energy sources), we do not want to limit ourselves and know that there are more solutions out there that we are yet to discover.
We plan to build the first center in Ghana this year, and your idea can be part of this.
